Fund Your Dream Business

Have you ever seen the meme “The dream is free, the hustle is sold separately”? Do you have any idea what that means?  It took me awhile to get it… I tend to be a bit of a grammar snob and frankly the sentence just didn’t make sense to me.  We all have dreams; some big, some small.  It costs absolutely nothing to dream.  Sometimes, I spend entire days just dreaming and envisioning what it will feel like to actually live all of my dreams. I have to take action to achieve those dreams.  That action isn’t free.  That action is the hustle that they say is sold separately.  Hustle requires resources;  and resources often cost a significant amount of money.

The problem for a lot of us is coming up with the cash to fund our dream business.

Below I share 3 resourceful ways to fund your dream business.  The first step is to figure out exactly how much money you need to make your dream(s) come true. Know where you are going; get where you need to be.  Research the product in detail and the service providers you want to work with to determine how much money you need.

Here are 3 resourceful ways to fund your dream business.

  1. Take pre-orders.  If your dream business involves delivering a tangible product the most efficient way to get it off the ground is to run a pre-order campaign for a select item(s).  Of course this kind of effort doesn’t manage itself.  You will need to be very active with marketing your new product to your audience.  Thankfully, creative apps and social media allow for your marketing efforts to be completely free if you’re able to draft a series of posts that are eye catching and engaging. If you have a prototype or a photo of your product you can run a pre-order campaign.  Know in advance exactly how many orders you’ll need to get in order to fund your production. Similarly, if your dream business revolves around a service like opening a hair salon, you can pre-sell your hair styling services to your clients to secure the location and invest in the build out.  I actually have a friend that did this and successfully raised about $16k to open her beauty studio in just 2 weeks of pre-selling services to her clients.  If she can do it, so can you.  Bet on yourself.
  2. Sell a service offering.  You can usually sell a service with absolutely no overhead costs.  What do you know well enough to teach someone else?  What skill do you have that you can perform for someone else? Sell a service that is in line with your forthcoming brand.  You can actively build your brand presence and engage the audience that will eventually become your paying customers simultaneously.
  3. Join a quality multi-level marketing company.  You invest a small amount when you start.  The company handles the bulk of the overhead.  Your job is to sell the products and help others do the same.   My 4th business venture is in the works. It is by far the biggest dream/vision I’ve had for any business.  I need a lot of working capital to get my new business off the ground.  The money could possibly be tied up for awhile, so it can’t come from my household or my other business funds.  I joined It Works Global to use it as a vehicle to fund this enormous dream.  It’s been one of my smartest and most effective business decisions to date.
